Alan’s extensive pool plastering career began in 1974 as a mixer, progressing to a finisher and foreman by age 19. In 1981, he co-founded Alan Smith Pools, a leading pool renovation firm in Orange, California.
In 1989, Alan became a founding member of the National Plasterers Council (NPC) and later served as NPC President for several years. He also played a vital role in securing funding and establishing the National Pool Industry Research Center at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
An active board member of The California Pool and Spa Association, Alan is also an associate member of several esteemed organizations, including The Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA), the United Pool Association (UPA), the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI), and the ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institute).
Frequently recognized by PSN as one of the Top 50 builders of the year, Alan Smith Pools relies on MicroGlass to protect nearly 1,000 pools annually, spanning both commercial and residential installations.
